BNP Paribas wins the "Grand Prix de l'Année 2009" prize
BNP Paribas has just received for its integration of Fortis, a prize awarded by the Club des Trente, a group of 30 financial directors from leading French companies. The prize is given for the best financial deal of the year.
GervaisPellissier, Chairman of the jury, explains the reasons why BNP Paribas won the prize: "The deal was selected for its strategic coherence. It gave rise to two new domestic markets (Belgium, Luxembourg) in addition to France and Italy and it created value for BNP Paribas'shareholders through the large number of synergies. Lastly, the deal reflects the creativity and innovation the Group used in its numerous innovative mechanisms in the area of risk management".
Through this prize the Club seeks to show that finance and the financial markets may be used in ambitious industrial strategies.
