Madrid BI – Support Analyst – Job Description

To ensure a stable and resilient production environment for the business, the team is looking for candidates responsible for L1 and L2 production support activities for a BI application.

Shift working to support application which is implemented in UK Region:

•     Shift timings: 1:30 PM to 10 PM. (Candidate should be flexible)

•     Flexibility to support the application outside business hours or bank holidays for activities like DR drill, major incidents support or releases, sanity checks etc., if required.

Position Purpose

To ensure a stable and resilient production environment for the business, the team will be responsible for L1 and L2 production support activities for a BI application.


Direct Responsibilities

•        Provide L1 & L2 production support activities to a BI application.

•        Response to incidents, user request, problems, in a timely manner

•        Perform daily health check and actively monitor the system

•        Should have good knowledge on SQL, SSIS and SSAS.

•        Contribute majorly the investigation of SSIS packages and tracking the SSIS job execution logs is a must since all the jobs are setup in SSIS.

•        From Cube point of view, understanding of SSAS is required in case if SSIS is completed but data is not loaded in the cube.

•        Communicate and provide status updates on issues to users and application team

•        To liaise with the related parties (e.g. IT, Operations, Front Office) to resolve the incident in a timely and permanent manner

•        Support change management process and releases deployment, align to Group standard and policy

•        Participate in Disaster Recovery test and Business Continuity activities

Contributing Responsibilities

•        Work closely with the application team on new initiatives (e.g. application rollout to new location, capacity planning, architecture)

•        To identify the project priority/ constraint for the project plan related to production activity.

•        Streamline production implementation and support processes in order to reduce turn around time for quality deliverables.

•    Provide support and assist application team in resolving production incident raised by end user and identify the root cause of the incident by applying sound error tracing techniques

Contribute to knowledgebase and cross train other team members

Ability to contribute to other projects as and when needed.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Specific Qualifications (if required)

·       Proven experience on SQL is mandatory

·       Should have sound knowledge in SSIS and SSAS.

·       Good to have understanding on various technologies (e.g. AutoSys, SFTP, CFT, Keys and Certificates, Service Now)

·       Good technical troubleshooting and debugging skills

·       Good communication skill and self-motivated

·       Ability to work in shifts and flexible hours on holidays and weekends in exigency situations

·       Knowledge on Alteryx, Python would be an advantage
