About Business line/Function:

Global Market Operations (GMO) covers Front Office activities such as ALM/Treasury and Fixed Income local booking. GMO consists of various streams, Control and Investigations, Settlement, Collateral and Reconciliation. GMO teams are also in regular contact with Capital Market Middle Office, Regional Back Office’s, and Regional Finance.

Position Purpose

·         Primary responsibilities of the team include:

·         Integration of security transactions and associated products in a timely and cost-effective manner

·         Timely resolution of Nostro and depot breaks

·         Mitigation of operational and reputational risk by escalating in a timely and efficient manner

·         Liaising with clients, brokers / counterparties, and other internal support functions for smooth settlement of trades

·         To monitor team work closely with other internal teams and support functions and timely action and identification of issues are of prime importance. It is essential for this role to ensure the team deliverables are met and issues are highlighted to the relevant groups and stakeholders as appropriate.

·         Main drivers are client service quality, independent control, operational risk safety and cost efficiency

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

·         Perform settlement for listed Derivatives both Financial and Commodity derivatives and handle funding for the Clearer accounts. 

·         Managerial Checks for trade / position reconciliation duties among different front and back-office systems.

·         Perform immediate investigation on irregular items such as position breaks / cash breaks or system problems.

·         Escalate to Senior / Lead managers of any control incident that may cost a loss to the bank.

·         Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and policies under the supervision of immediate supervisor.

·         Conduct system enhancement testing or involve in new system implementation project if required.

·         Streamline the operational procedures, enhance work efficiency, and minimize operational risk.

·         Provide support to other team members if required.

Contributing Responsibilities

·         Escalation & Reporting process: Internal rules of reporting and escalation to Ops and FO need to be known & applied.

·         Strong Client Focus: Capacity to work with various clients, especially FO. Need to be sensitive about the rationale of their requests and be proactive when replying to them. Work as partnership while consistently keeping an independent mindset.

·         Adaptability & Change Management: Ability to easily adapt to new situations (new booking systems, new products, new activities to manage) as this is a constant changing environment.

·         Ensuring EOD control are thoroughly performed & queues are clear with no outstanding.

·         Providing EOD update to management on all the activities within process. 

Skills and Experience:

·         Strong knowledge of Securities & operational processes of securities

·         Knowledge of Cash Management

·         Strong knowledge of Bolivar system

·         Strong knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, VBA, Word, PPT, Outlook)

·         Knowledge of practices of Lean & CI would be a plus.
