Position Purpose

·       The main responsibility of the Financial Synthesis Head (FS) department is to produce financial statements on various BNP Paribas Group entities on time, with good quality and accuracy.

·       This is a leadership level role to perform oversight of the financial reporting process and drive timely and accurate closing in line with Group standards and guideline.

·       Lead the various stream of Group reporting – Financial, Regulatory, liquidity and credit risk.

·       Be an expert on tools and processes as per FS TOM and ensure these processes are followed and documented.

·       Ensure the accuracy of various financial reports through a new BNP Paribas tool (One Finance system)

Responsibilities

 

·       Lead the Global Financial reporting team across regions (APAC, EMEA, UK and NAR) as well as fast growing regulatory reporting team.

·       Coordinate and establish governance between Platforms, Regional Finance teams and Head office (Group finance) for efficient delivery and optimal set up

·       Performance review of the department (KPI’s, adherence to SLA) with senior stakeholders (CFO’s, CEO’s and COO’s)

·       All aspects of people management including training, mentorship, performance evaluation, back up planning and contingency management (BCP)

·       Drive and steer the quarterly production of financial statements based on IFRS and French gaap as well as engage effectively with Finance controllers/CFO’s to discuss the results, trend and variances

·       Actively participate and support the resolution of complex technical accounting/reporting issues by involving the key stakeholders.

·       Build a strong control environment as defined by the BNP Paribas Standard Accounting Control Plan and ensure compliance to a strong level 1 control framework.

·       Engage with External Audit, Regulators and internal control teams and drive the resolution of their queries.

·       Perform oversight of the Intercompany reconciliation for transactions within the group entities

·       Promote the OFS processes and usages from the financial and management accounting, controls and reporting perspective, in close coherence with the F&S practice.

·       Lead and drive ‘Transformation Projects’ to optimize the process and promote a culture of ‘Change and Transformation’

Specific Qualifications (if required)

·       Chartered Accountant/CPA or similar qualification with experience in managing the accounting team

·       Knowledge of financial reporting processes in Banking and Capital Market industry

·       Knowledge of Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) activities

·       Good communication (oral and written), organisation and documentation skills.
